THE MOST COMMONLY USED FEATHER IN FLY TYING
The tail feathers of the pheasant are undoubtedly among the most versatile and popular feathers in fly tying. The tail feathers of the female pheasant are slightly lighter in colour and have a more structured pattern than those of the male. The feathers of the females are also a little shorter. Otherwise, however, the field of use remains the same.
Not only the world-famous Pheasant Tail Nymph is almost exclusively tied with the fibres of these feathers. These feathers are suitable for tying many other nymphs, wet and dry flies. With them you can imitate not only the cerci, i.e. the abdominal appendages. In addition, the body can be made very easily with the fibres of the pheasant tail feather. And last but not least, these feathers are also very well suited to perfectly imitate the wing case as well as the little legs of your fly patterns.
The tail feathers of the female pheasant are rigorously selected by Hotfly. Only intact feathers that are not bent or damaged in any way are suitable for fly-tying. In addition, only feathers from approx. 15 cm are selected. The longer the feather, the longer the individual fibres. You will find 3 feathers in each package.
